Leon County Health Fair

The Leon County Health Resource Commission will host the Leon County Health Fair. The theme will be "Healthy for Life," and all Leon County residents are invited. The event will increase health awareness and disease prevention for county residents through health screenings and education, motivate participants to make positive health behavior changes, and increase awareness of local, state, and area resources.

Honor Flight is planning a special flight to Washington DC; taking WWII Pearl Harbor Survivors to a solemn ceremony at the WWII Memorial. The event will take place on December 7, 2014. The flight to Washington D.C. will depart on Dec 6. Any Pearl Harbor Survivor outside of the Austin area will fly from an airport nearest to their residence.

This offer is for all Pearl Harbor Survivors in the State of Texas. Honor Flight Austin will arrange all accommodations for the Veterans; there is no cost to the Veteran.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: At 1:53 p.m. on December 7 annually, Friends and NPS co-host a ceremony at the Memorial to remember and honor all those who died when America’s naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy. More than 2,400 Americans were killed and more than 1,100 were wounded.
